PRODUCT CATALOGUE & TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Designed for sheet-fed UV offset printing, UV varnishing and selected metal-decorating applications.

Product Overview

FORDIA UV-20 is a medium-long run compressible printing blanket developed for sheet-fed UV offset production. Its ruby EPDM face compound is formulated for compatibility with UV-curable inks and varnishes, while the stable multi-layer carcass helps maintain uniform printing pressure and dimensional stability during extended production.

The precision-ground and buffed surface supports clean sheet release, fine dot reproduction and solid ink transfer. A resilient compressible layer provides a broad pressure latitude and useful recovery from minor impact, helping printers balance print quality, durability and operating cost in packaging, commercial and metal-decorating work.

Key Features & Benefits

  • UV-resistant ruby EPDM printing face for UV ink and varnish chemistry
  • Medium-long run durability for regular production schedules
  • Wide pressure latitude with stable contact across the sheet
  • Good smash resistance and recovery from minor pressroom impact
  • Precision-ground quick-release surface for clean transfer and wash-up
  • Sharp dot reproduction, clean solids and consistent image detail
  • Stable gauge, low stretch and strong fabric reinforcement
  • Suitable for packaging, commercial UV work and selected metal printing

Functional zone

Primary role

Benefit in production

Ruby EPDM face

Transfers the image and contacts ink, varnish and substrate

UV chemical compatibility, controlled release and clean print detail

Reinforcement zone

Distributes load and supports the printing face

Stable surface geometry and uniform pressure across the sheet

Compressible layer

Absorbs pressure variation and minor impact

Wide pressure latitude, reduced risk of over-impression and useful smash recovery

Fabric carcass / base

Provides tensile strength and mounting stability

Low stretch, consistent gauge and reliable cylinder fit

Performance Profile

UV compatibility

EPDM face resists the aggressive chemistry commonly associated with UV inks, varnishes and approved wash-up products.

Print reproduction

Uniform surface finish supports fine dots, small text, clean line work and consistent solid density.

Pressure control

Compressible construction provides a broad working latitude and helps equalize minor variations in cylinder loading.

Durability

Medium-long run positioning provides a balanced service life for regular commercial and packaging production.

Release & wash-up

Ground quick-release surface helps reduce piling and supports efficient cleaning between jobs.

Dimensional stability

Reinforced fabric carcass and low elongation help maintain gauge and registration over production.

Pressroom Use & Handling Guidance

BEFORE INSTALLATION

  • Confirm press model, blanket size, thickness and bar/punching configuration.
  • Inspect the blanket and cylinder for damage, dirt, burrs or packing irregularities.
  • Calculate underpacking and blanket height according to the press manufacturer’s specification.
  • Mount squarely and apply uniform tension using the approved torque procedure.

DURING PRODUCTION

  • Use the minimum impression pressure necessary to achieve proper transfer.
  • Recheck tension after the initial bedding-in period and after any major stop.
  • Monitor edges, surface glazing, swelling, piling and print-pressure balance.
  • Remove paper fragments or foreign objects promptly to avoid local smash damage.

CLEANING & STORAGE

  • Use an EPDM/UV-compatible blanket wash approved for the ink and press system.
  • Avoid sharp tools, excessive scraping and prolonged contact with unsuitable solvent.
  • Store in original packaging, flat or supported on the core in a cool, dry and dark place.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, heaters, ozone sources, oil vapour and heavy stacking loads.
