UV OFFSET INK

UV-HA HIGH ADHESION SERIES INK

High-adhesion UV offset ink for PET, PP, metallized stocks, aluminum foil paper and soft PVC film

Document: TDS-UV-HA-EN Revision: 01 Issue date: 01 Aug 2026
Product type: Energy-curable offset printing ink Status: Typical technical data Brand: FORDIA
1. Product overview

FORDIA UV-HA is a specialty UV offset ink series engineered for difficult non-absorbent substrates. Its balanced resin system promotes wetting, anchorage and film flexibility on properly treated PET, PP, metallized paper, aluminum foil-laminated paper and soft PVC film.

Recommended applications: Premium labels, plastic cards, packaging components, metallized paper products, foil-laminated paper and flexible display or promotional pieces. End-use suitability must be validated on the actual substrate.

Recommended substrates: PET, corona-treated PP, metallized paper, aluminum foil-laminated paper, selected soft PVC film

Recommended equipment: Sheet-fed or suitable web UV offset presses with sufficient UV dose

Available colors: Process Yellow, Process Magenta, Process Cyan, Process Black; white and spot colors by request

2. Key performance features
  • Enhanced adhesion on properly treated low-absorbency and non-absorbent substrates.
  • Flexible cured film with good resistance to cracking during normal converting.
  • Good scratch, tape and rub resistance after complete cure and post-cure development.
  • Stable ink-water balance and clean transfer on compatible UV offset equipment.
  • Suitable for printing on PET, treated PP, metallized/foil paper and selected soft PVC film after testing.
3. Typical technical properties
Data status: Values below are typical production values, not release specifications or contractual limits.

Property Typical value Test / condition
Appearance High-adhesion paste ink Visual
Fineness ≤ 5 µm Grind gauge
Tack 11-15 Inkometer, 32°C, 400 rpm, 1 min
Viscosity 85-140 Pa·s Cone/plate or equivalent, 25°C
Typical cure dose 120-250 mJ/cm² At the ink surface; verify on press
Adhesion target ISO 2409 Class 0-1 Cross-cut, 24 h after cure, approved stock
Shelf life 9 months Unopened original container, recommended storage

4. Process-color reference
Process color Typical solid density* Lightfastness (Blue Wool)*
Yellow 1.10-1.30 3-5
Magenta 1.30-1.50 4-5
Cyan 1.40-1.60 7-8
Black 1.55-1.80 7-8

*Density: coated stock, Status T measurement. Lightfastness is pigment/shade dependent and indicative only.

5. Press and curing guidance
Control point Recommended starting guidance
Surface energy Starting targets: PET ≥ 42 mN/m; PP ≥ 40 mN/m; PVC ≥ 38 mN/m. Verify immediately before printing.
Surface condition Substrate must be clean, dry and free of oil, silicone, plasticizer bloom, dust and release agents.
Curing Use sufficient dose for through-cure. Heavy coverage, dark shades and opaque white may require reduced speed.
Adhesion check Evaluate cross-cut/tape adhesion after the printed film has cooled and again after 24 hours.
Pretreatment Corona, flame treatment or an approved primer may be necessary when surface energy or coating compatibility is inadequate.
Series-specific note: Plastic films vary substantially by resin, additive package, topcoat, surface treatment and age. Production approval requires a trial on the exact substrate lot, followed by cure, adhesion, flexibility and finishing tests under intended service conditions.

6. General operating recommendations
  • Condition ink to approximately 20-25°C before use and mix gently until uniform.
  • Keep containers closed when not in use and protect ink from sunlight, UV lamps and strong white light.
  • Do not mix with conventional oil-based ink or unapproved additives. Use only FORDIA-recommended reducers or auxiliaries.
  • Keep rollers, blankets, plates and ink ducts clean. Residual wash or incompatible ink can impair cure and adhesion.
  • Approve color, cure, adhesion, rub resistance and finishing performance on the actual press and substrate before a production run.
7. Cleaning

Use a wash approved for UV-curable offset inks and compatible with the press rollers, blankets and plate system. Follow the press manufacturer's procedure. Prevent wash and ink residues from entering drains or surface water.

8. Packaging, storage and shelf life
  • Standard packing: 1 kg vacuum can; other pack sizes may be available by agreement.
  • Store in the unopened original container at 5-25°C in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
  • Protect from heat, freezing, sunlight and all UV radiation. Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Shelf life applies only under the stated storage conditions. Resealed or contaminated ink should be evaluated before reuse.
