1. Product overview
FORDIA UV-RS is designed for rotary and semi-rotary UV offset label presses. The series combines controlled rheology, clean transfer and rapid cure to support fine text, barcodes, vignettes and consistent color during continuous narrow-web label production.
Recommended applications: Pressure-sensitive labels, wraparound labels, pharmaceutical and cosmetic labels, promotional labels and other narrow-web work on paper or approved film label stocks.
Recommended substrates: Coated label paper, cast-coated paper, synthetic paper, top-coated or corona-treated film
Recommended equipment: Rotary and semi-rotary narrow-web UV offset label presses
Available colors: Process Yellow, Process Magenta, Process Cyan, Process Black; spot and high-opacity colors on request
2. Key performance features
3. Typical technical properties
| Data status: Values below are typical production values, not release specifications or contractual limits. |
| Property | Typical value | Test / condition |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Controlled-rheology paste ink | Visual |
| Fineness | ≤ 5 µm | Grind gauge |
| Tack | 10-14 | Inkometer, 32°C, 400 rpm, 1 min |
| Viscosity | 70-120 Pa·s | Cone/plate or equivalent, 25°C |
| Indicative press speed | 50-150 m/min | Press, image and cure dependent |
| Typical cure dose | 80-160 mJ/cm² | At the ink surface; verify on press |
| Shelf life | 12 months | Unopened original container, recommended storage |
4. Process-color reference
| Process color | Typical solid density* | Lightfastness (Blue Wool)* |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | 1.10-1.30 | 3-5 |
| Magenta | 1.35-1.50 | 4-5 |
| Cyan | 1.45-1.60 | 7-8 |
| Black | 1.60-1.80 | 7-8 |
*Density: coated stock, Status T measurement. Lightfastness is pigment/shade dependent and indicative only.
5. Press and curing guidance
| Control point | Recommended starting guidance |
|---|---|
| Temperature | Keep ink and pressroom temperature stable; excessive heat may lower viscosity and increase misting. |
| Web/substrate | Confirm topcoat, corona level and surface cleanliness before production; avoid silicone or slip contamination. |
| Curing | Set lamp power and speed to achieve full cure at the highest ink coverage, not only in light image areas. |
| Converting | Validate adhesion, die-cutting, matrix stripping, varnishing and lamination on the actual label construction. |
| Series-specific note: The stated speed is an application starting range, not a guaranteed maximum. Available cure power, image coverage, web temperature, substrate chemistry and lamp condition determine the achievable speed. | |
6. General operating recommendations
7. Cleaning
Use a wash approved for UV-curable offset inks and compatible with the press rollers, blankets and plate system. Follow the press manufacturer's procedure. Prevent wash and ink residues from entering drains or surface water.
